Wellingtonians excel at the ACAMIS VEX Robotics Nationals
Our inaugural VEX IQ (years 7-9) teams competed in the ‘Rapid Relay’ game. This saw them collaborating with randomly assigned teams from other schools. The objective was to develop machines that pass balls and shoot them into a target within one minute.
Excelling in this challenge, the Wellington teams qualified in 4th, 17th, and 18th out of 39 teams. In the finals, Team 63714D, our very own Remi, Harlan and Andrew placed second!
Building on their previous success, the Wellington VEX V5 (year 9) team also demonstrated their skills in the ‘High Stakes’ game, in which their machines had to collect and store rings on stakes while also trying to steal their opponents' rings.
The team's exceptional performance during the qualification rounds secured them a place in the finals. Regardless of the outcome, our pupils not only honed their engineering skills but also gained valuable experiences in teamwork, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. Moreover, the competition inspired our young innovators to pursue robotics even further.
