Applying to Wellington

Applications can be submitted via our online Open Apply system. You will be required to upload the documents outlined in our checklist.

For 2023-2024 academic year admissions: applications to join Wellington during the current school year are welcome year-round on a rolling basis, though spaces are subject to availability. For 2024-2025 academic year admissions: applications will be accepted from 10th October 2023.

Applications are reviewed by the Admissions team after the application is completed — online application is submitted, all required documents are received and the non-refundable RMB 3,000 application fee is paid.

An application is valid for one academic year (August–June) only. Applicants who wish to re-apply for the next academic year must submit a new application.

An age-appropriate assessment will be arranged after the application form is completed.

For 2024-2025 academic year admissions: the Admissions team will contact you to schedule an early assessment.

For 2024-2025 academic year admissions: the admissions team will contact you from December 2022. Arrangements will then be made for assessments which will take place between December 2022 and March 2023.

We try to communicate admissions decisions within five working days. However, please understand that it may take couple of weeks during admissions season.

For 2024–2025 academic year applications, please note that first-round decisions for Nursery, Reception and year 2 will be made in late January 2024. All subsequent decisions will continue on a rolling basis throughout the admissions season.

A decision will be one of the following:

 

Successful application

Successful applicants receive an offer letter. To secure a place in the College, parents must accept the College’s terms and conditions and pay the RMB 18,000 resource fee within five days.

 

Unsuccessful application

Parents will be informed of unsuccessful applications by letter. The application is then closed. Applicants may submit another application after 12 months.

 

Waiting pool*

If no spaces are available, a 'waiting pool' letter will be sent. Parents will be contacted once a space becomes available (please see below to learn more).

*Waiting pool

The College runs a waiting pool for qualified applicants. Please note that the waiting pool is determined by best fit and not on a first come, first served basis. An applicant can be placed in the waiting pool only after the application has been completed, the assessment has been done and applicant has been recommended by the Admissions Committee. A child may be placed initially in a waiting pool to allow us more time to assess seat availability. The Admissions Office will contact families should a child’s waiting pool status change. Unfortunately, not all applicants in the waiting pool are successfully  secure a place in the College.
