Wellingtonians celebrate another year of excellent IB results 2023!
The 2023 International Baccalaureate (IB) exam results have been announced, and our graduating class has achieved an impressive average score of 36.6 (out of a maximum of 45), surpassing the global average of 30.2. A phenomenal achievement!
Additionally, 9 of our 2023 leavers achieved scores of 40 or higher, with a top score of 44! This year saw 100% pass rate for our pupils doing second language (Language B) papers with grades 6+, and our IB Core average at grade 2 out of 3, a testament to our College's commitment to holistic, well-balanced education.
“I am absolutely thrilled for our Class of 2023,” said Head of Senior School, Charles Debieux. “Despite facing numerous challenges this year, the graduating class has succeeded with remarkable results. I am confident that they will continue to excel in their future endeavors.”
Head of Sixth Form, Martin O’Brien added: “Despite extremely difficult circumstances, our pupils have collectively achieved outstanding results. We could not be more proud as we have Wellingtonians making their mark around the world at outstanding institutions this fall. From Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London in the UK to Caltech, Brown, Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania in the US, they will be studying a wide range of subjects, such as law, chemistry, psychology as well as visual and performing arts, and can do so with heads held high.”
The International Baccalaureate (IB) programme is renowned for its rigour, but this is only one facet of its value. The programme itself demands a lot from our pupils in terms of time, passion and dedication. Considering this being the final IB cohort to face challenges of the pandemic, the exceptional achievements of our graduating class are even more noteworthy.
Congratulations once again to our Class of 2023 on their results!
We look forward to welcoming back this year’s graduating cohort as part of the We.Connect alumni network and to hear more about their contributions to our ever international, ever-changing world. We hope they remember Master Brendon Fulton’s Speech Day parting words, “Never stop learning” as this shall serve them well.
