We began the year by welcoming pupils back to familiar faces and new adventures, from our youngest Pre-Nursery learners taking their first steps into school life to Year 12 pupils embarking on their IB journey.
The year unfolded with unforgettable moments: the Outdoor Concert under the stars (despite the rescheduled rain date!), the glittering 10-Year Anniversary Ball, and the recognition of Wellington Shanghai as one of the world’s top 150 private schools by Carfax Education.
These accolades, alongside our top rankings in the Hurun Report and Forbes China, reflect the collective effort of our community to strive for excellence, not just academically, but in nurturing happy, confident, and kind individuals.
Our founding staff and families were honoured at special dinners, a reminder of the roots that have shaped us. Meanwhile, alumni events in New York and London, and our inaugural Annual Alumni Reunion at the school, highlighted the enduring bonds forged here.
As our first decade closes, I am inspired by the legacy of care and connection that continues to grow, whether through pupil-led initiatives like the Sustainability Fair, the creation of our Elevate Gallery, or the camaraderie of House competitions.
To our pupils, thank you for your curiosity, resilience, and happy faces. To our staff, your passion and commitment transform lives daily. To our parents, your partnership is the backbone of this community. And to our Class of 2025, as you join the ranks of Old Wellingtonians, carry forward the values you’ve learned here.
As we break for the summer, may you all find time to rest and recharge. Whether travelling or staying in Shanghai, I wish you a holiday filled with laughter, relaxation, and cherished moments with loved ones.
