Wins for Wellington in U15 Phuket Warm Up!

06 Nov 2017

Last Saturday, the boys and girls U15 football teams participated in the warm up for the Phuket 7aside Tournament. Although not participating this year, this was a useful experience of where our older age groups are in relation to leading international schools in Shanghai for these age groups. The boys kicked off first against Dulwich College Shanghai and made a great start by opening the scoring with Sam latching onto a loose pass and putting Wellington 1-0 ahead. Dulwich pressed and got one back but it was again Sam, who finished to win the game 2-1 for Wellington. The girls played their first match and were up against Dulwich College Suzhou. The girls took the lead twice through Coco and Klara and it was Sophia scoring with 10 minutes from time to make it two wins from two for Wellington. The boys next match was against Dulwich College Suzhou. This was a far more physical match and with Wellington 2-1 up with five minutes to go (with goals from Daniel and an own goal, they were unable to hold on the win and conceded to finish 2-2. Both the boys and girls final matches were against BISS Puxi and with two very strong teams both were unable to record a result and the girls lost narrowly 2-0 and the boys beaten convincingly 5-1. Overall a good morning and an enjoyable experience for our young U15 teams.
