Senior boys and girls volleyball in action at SISAC end of season finals
02 Nov 2017
The eight-week volleyball SISAC season came to an end on the 18th October, with the boys traveling to Concordia to compete in the cup and the girls heading to SSIS Suzhou for the plate competition. The league saw the boys improve significantly towards the end, achieving victories against SAS Pudong and SMIC to finish with a 4-3 record, which was sufficient to secure them a place in the cup competition. The girls, still searching for that elusive first win, continued to battle determinedly with each game and they entered the plate competition with that same level of optimism and fortitude.
The boys started the cup competition slowly with a 2-1 defeat against SCIS Hongqiao, but then found their form against SAS Puxi and SSIS Suzhou as a pair of 2-0 victories gave them an overall 5th place in the cup.
In the plate competition, the girls lost narrowly against SCIS Hongqiao and DCS before finishing the day on a high by securing their first win against SSIS Suzhou 2-1. A special mention must go to Alphonse for the boys and Anya for the girls, though everyone involved demonstrated excellent teamwork and great personal effort throughout Wellington’s first season playing SISAC volleyball – we look forward to even more success next year.
