For 2026-27 academic year admissions:

Applications for Wellington Shanghai can be submitted via our online Open Apply system. You will be required to upload the documents outlined in our checklist.
 

For 2025-26 academic year admissions:

Applications to join Wellington during the current school year are welcome year-round on a rolling basis, though spaces are subject to availability. Please contact Wellington Admissions for more information. The team is available at (+86-21) 5185-3885 or click here to fill in our enquiry form.
 

Applications are reviewed by the Wellington Admissions team after the application is completed — online application is submitted, all required documents are received and the non-refundable RMB 3,500 application fee is paid.

An application is valid for one academic year (August–June) only. Applicants who wish to re-apply to Wellington Shanghai for the next academic year must submit a new application.

Wellington Admission Assessments

An age-appropriate assessment will be arranged after the application form is completed. The Wellington admission assessment will either take place at the school, or remotely if you currently live outside of Shanghai.

For both current and 2026-27 academic year admissions: Admissions team will contact you to schedule an assessment accordingly.

Your Wellington admission assessment results will be considered but will not be the sole factor in our decision. In line with the ethos of the College, Wellington Shanghai admits pupils with a wide range of skills and abilities beyond academics.

Wellington Admission Decisions

Upon completing the Wellington Shanghai admissions process and relevant assessments, your application will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

We aim to inform you of your application status within three working days, but for year groups with heavy application volume, it may take a couple of weeks. Your dedicated Wellington Admissions officer will be in touch.

An admission decision will be one of the following:

Successful application
Successful applicants to Wellington Shanghai receive an offer letter. To secure a place in Wellington College Shanghai, parents must accept the College's terms and conditions and pay the RMB 18,000 resource fee. 

Unsuccessful application
Parents will be informed of unsuccessful applications by letter. The application is then closed. Applicants may re-apply during the next application cycle.

Waiting pool
If no spaces are available, a 'waiting pool' letter will be sent. Parents will be contacted once a space becomes available.
