Wellington College's SSL swim championships success at SAS Pudong

27 February 2017
Last weekend, the Wellington College swim team took part in the SSL Championships swim meet at SAS Pudong, an event comprising of more than 50 individual races. Every competitor faced a long weekend of swimming, since the meet started bright and early and didn’t finish until well after sunset, but all would agree that it was most definitely worth the long and tiring hours involved. On the Saturday, 11-years-old and above swam in their events and ended with some very heartening results; Agnes and Damian both came first in their respective age groups, and as a school we came fifth overall. On Sunday, it was the turn of 11-years-old and under swimmers, who finished ninth overall. Plenty of our swimmers beat their personal best times and it was clear that all the hard work and training in the pool had paid off. Over the course of the weekend, Wellington College swimmers won 14 individual medals, not to mention our excellent overall championship rankings for both age groups. The SSL Championships swim meet represented an amazing opportunity for our swimmers to not only demonstrate and measure their personal improvement, but to also test themselves against other schools in a competitive environment.
