Wellington on Tour, Malaysia 2016

On Friday 20th May 2016, 24 students embarked on a sports tour to Malaysia. We arrived early evening and students managed to have a nice dinner before settling down for bed. Saturday morning came and the students were buzzing with excitement and energy. We arrived at Marlborough College, took a few selfies before Mr Sleep gave the students an inspirational team talk and then proceeded with the warm up.

First team up were our boys football against Marlborough College, the girls sat down at the side of the pitch to cheer them on. The game started, and the atmosphere was electric. We went down 1-0 within the first two minutes. The boys realised it was going to be a tough game. They kept their heads high and stepped up a gear. We saw some great quick passes and fancy footwork before the equalizer was scored. They kept their cool and came away with a win. The girls were on next playing Marlborough. Again we saw some fantastic football being played by both teams. Unfortunately we just lost out on that game, but we came back fighting and won our next game against Epsom. We had a break for lunch, when all students got to mingle with each other. The boys went on to play cricket, winning one game out of their two. The girls went on to play touch rugby. Being fairly new to this sport, they did fantastically well, improving in each quarter with Mr Mason's amazing encouragement. Once the tournament was over it was time for a quick swim by the hotel pool before dinner.

Overall we had an epic weekend, with great competition, a high standard of play, friendly staff and students.
