Netball tournament in Singapore

21 Mar 2016
On 4th March, 14 girls travelled to Singapore to participate in the U16 and U19 SEA Netball Tournament at Tanglin Trust School. All girls travelling were playing at least two years down from the top of the age group and had little netball experience. Wellington was the only school to have squads without subs so the weekend turned into a test of endurance! Special congratulations must go to Langa Nindie – U19 WD – who was Wellington’s most nominated player for the MVP award. Luna Christensen – U19 GA and Captain – and Sophie Cook – U19 GS – shot like champions and ensured all plays into the Wellington circle were converted with class and apparent ease. In the U16 team, Coco Brandini – GA – shot over gigantic opposing defenders and proved that height is not a necessary attribute to being a phenomenal shooter. Also, Jade Sedgwick – GD – and Elizabeth McKim – Captain and GK – battled on through against some very persistent attackers and gave the team a strong backbone. The U16 squad made it through to the Bowl Competition finishing 3rd and the U19 team finished so high in the rankings that they made it into the Cup Competition. Overall, the U19s finished 8th out of all participating schools. A phenomenal weekend of being true ambassadors for the school and for the sport. Thank you girls for making my last tournament with you so memorable for all the right lessons. You have made your coach so very proud indeed.
