It has been a very busy and exiting week down in the pool with the second annual Wellington College Inter-House Swimming Gala.
We enjoyed fourschool competitions:
Nursery & Reception
Year 1 & Year 2
Pre-School
Senior School
We again set out an ambitious plan to have each and every Wellingtonian swim in the event, competing not just for personal glory but to represent their houses.
For some of our younger swimmers, this is their first chance to compete, ever, at anything and it was fantastic to see so many of them using their new swimming skills in a competitive way.
For the Prep School, it was an amazing chance for them to put into practice what they have been learning in lessons all year. For the Aquatics team, it was brilliant to see how far some of the students have come since the beginning of the year.
In the Senior School, it was an all-out competition between some of our strongest and most determined athletes. It was also great to see some of the senior students who, although not perhaps the most confident of swimmers, stepped up to the blocks to take on the challenge and the chance to win important points for their houses in this closely fought competition.
Winners for the week:
Nursery/Reception – Combermere.
Year1 & Year 2 – Stanley
Prep-School – Hopetoun
Senior (Year 8/9) – Wellesley
Senior (Year 10+) – Wellesley
