Wellingtonians shine in American Mathematics Competitions
Designed for pupils up to year 9, the AMC 8 tests critical thinking and problem-solving agility with 25 problems in 40 minutes. Final award distinctions are pending, but we are already celebrating remarkable achievements. 12 pupils scored 80% or higher, with two year 5 pupils clinching first and second place—the former achieving a flawless full score!
This year's record-breaking participation and outstanding results highlight our pupils' innate curiosity and the success of our tailored maths curriculum. Moreover, it’s the second major AMC success of the 2024-25 academic year.
Last November, we hosted the AMC 10/12 for our secondary school pupils. Our mathematicians achieved exceptional results, with two pupils earning Honours Roll of Distinction, three earning Distinction, two earning Achievement Roll and one earning School Honours Roll, as well as five qualifying for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).

Globally recognised competitions like these are an integral part of our rigorous maths curriculum. They give our pupils the chance to showcase their problem-solving skills, engage with advanced mathematical concepts and compete on a global stage. They also encourage our children to explore mathematics beyond traditional boundaries, supported by research-driven teaching methods and resources.
Congratulations to our brilliant budding mathematicians on these achievements. We eagerly await the official award distinctions!
