Wellingtonians receive Top Uni Offers from US, UK & Beyond

We are particularly excited to see the success our pupils have had in the United States this year with offers from research universities Columbia, UC Berkley, Carnegie Mellon, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), New York University, University of Michigan, Notre Dame, University of Washington, University of Southern California, University of North Carolina, University of Virginia, and Boston University as well as highly respected liberal arts colleges like Bowdoin, Claremont McKenna, Wesleyan, and Haverford.

Wellingtonians continue to receive offers from many top US universities.
This is in addition to the great success our pupils have had once again in the United Kingdom with offers from Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, University College London, and the London School of Economics; in Canada with offers from University of Toronto, McGill, and University of British Columbia; and in Hong Kong and Australia with offers from University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST), and University of Melbourne.

Wellington graduates can be found across the globe:
36% US & Canada, 35% United Kingdom, 14% Europe, 10% Asia, 4% Australia
We are pleased not only by the calibre of the universities making these offers but by the range of subjects the pupils will be taking up. Many pupils will pursue STEM subjects such as molecular bioengineering (Imperial) and computer science (Columbia) as well as business (Stern School at NYU), but other pupils have received offers to study English literature (Oxford), archaeology (UCL), public health (Claremont McKenna), and gender studies (Wesleyan) alongside pupils who will be studying arts subjects such as film production (Savannah College of Art and Design), textile design (University of the Arts London), and game arts (Pratt Institute).

The success of these pupils is due in great measure to their completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), which is known by universities around the world for both rigour and breadth. This strength of the IBDP is something that US universities, with their traditional liberal arts curricula, particularly value. But these pupils did not stop at the classroom and indeed stretched themselves through their involvement in our robust co-curricular activities (CCA) programme including sports, the performing arts, robotics, MUN, and more; in our pupil leadership programme; in academic mentorship opportunities; and in service to the community through the IB CAS programme and the work of the pupil-led charity committee.

Our pupils greatly benefit from the support of our Higher Education & Careers (HEC) team. These dedicated professionals notonly meet 1-to-1 with pupils and their parents regularly to provide bespoke guidance every step of the way but also arrange additional opportunities that will benefit them in their university selection, preparation, and application process. These opportunities include our HEC curriculum for pupils in year 10 and up, on-campus SAT prep classes, support for pupils in their application writing and interview prep, and our annual university fair featuring more than 100 universities from around the world.
