Wellington gains offers from half of top-10 ranked universities
As pupils are preparing to go on their Chinese New Year break, we are delighted to bring further news of excellent offers for Wellington College China schools in the early rounds of university applications. Wellingtonians continue to achieve success in every possible field with outstanding offers from some of the most prestigious global universities, with positive results, so far, from a staggering five out of the top-10 ranked institutions in both the UK and US (QS World Rankings 2022).
The decisions so far received have also come from some of the most traditionally competitive programmes around the world, including Architecture, Law, Engineering, Economics, Maths and Physics. Successful decisions have also been received from some of the world's top arts schools and colleges.
The range of success achieved, from the traditional academic courses offered at Oxford and Cambridge to the more selective programmes offered by specialist institutions devoted to the performing and visual arts, is a fitting testament to Wellington College China's holistic education provision.
Tips
About Early Application
These decisions largely reflect the results of the early application rounds in particular countries. Depending on the destination, this can work in very different ways. Universities in the US typically offer an Early Decision or Early Application option. Both allow for an early result with the key difference being that Early Decision represents a binding application, meaning that the pupil is committed to attending that university (and must withdraw applications from all other universities). The results of applications to the UK are largely done on a rolling basis with the exception of applications to Oxford and Cambridge, which are released on set days in January following a round of interviews.
With many decisions still to come from the regular round of applications in the US and UK as well as from destinations such as those in Europe, Singapore and Australia, it is already set to be an incredibly successful year.
