Our debating team impressed at this year’s Zongheng Cup
This month, our Chinese debating team gave a stellar performance at the 10th Zongheng Cup International Chinese Debate Competition. Going up against over 150 schools from around the world, they placed 4th overall and claimed the title of Division Champions.
Each of the five team members was honoured as a Best Debater, which speaks to both their individual skills and the team's brilliant collaborative efforts. Led by their equally talented coach, these young debaters demonstrated remarkable coordination and strategic thinking throughout the competition.
As the team leader, Vicky set a strong example from the start, arriving early to the first meeting and guiding the team through a comprehensive analysis of the arguments and preparation of materials. It was a particularly special achievement for two team members, Clara and Winnie. This was their first time officially competing in a debate, and they delivered stand-out performances that showcased their natural flair. The more seasoned pupils, Elizabeth and Andy, also played a vital role, using their experience to strengthen the team's cohesion and progress.
Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of these achievements! Of course, none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support and expert guidance of their dedicated teachers, Xiaoli Zhao and Zixin Zhu. Their commitment to mentoring the pupils, even on weekends, was clearly a key factor in the team's well-deserved success.
Congratulations to our expert debaters! Keep up the good work!
