Old Wellingtonians Reconnect in London

12 Feb 2025

In January, more than 50 Old Wellingtonians (OWs) from our schools in China reconnected in London, England for a memorable alumni gathering

OWs from as far back as 2013 met with Masters and senior leaders from around the Wellington College China, including Julian Jeffrey, Chief Executive Master of Wellington College China; Dr Yang Yang, Master of Wellington College Tianjin; Simon Kenworthy, Master of Hiba Academy Nantong; Suisui Yu, Principal of Hiba Academy Nantong; and Peter Murison, Second Master of Wellington College International Shanghai.

The event was an invaluable opportunity to strengthen the bonds of our growing global community and for our alumni to expand their professional networks. As more alumni join our We.Connect platform, our community continues to flourish. With this growth, we will provide even more opportunities for Old Wellingtonians from China to connect both online and offline, fostering engagement with peers and facilitating further career development. Leveraging the global network of Wellington College Education, alumni from both Wellington College in England and Wellington College China will have increased opportunities to share insights and enhance collaboration.

Chief Executive Master Julian Jeffrey emphasised that, “Graduation is not the end of our pupils’ Wellington or Hiba journey. We support them in the fourth stage of the Wellington experience, strengthening a vibrant, engaging, and enduring connection with our alumni and their families.”

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing compelling stories from several Wellington College China alumni who are now studying at some of the top-ranked universities in the world — schools like Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, University College London and the London School of Economics. So, stay tuned!

We call our graduates ‘Old Wellingtonians’ or OWs because, in our eyes, they never really leave us. Once a Wellingtonian, always a Wellingtonian. And it is in this spirit that we have launched We.Connect, a new alumni platform that brings the Wellington College China Community a wide range of benefits — from networking opportunities to mentorship programmes and so much more.
