In case you missed it: January & CNY 2025

10 Feb 2025

With just over two weeks, the month of January was short but sweet. Nevertheless, Wellingtonians current and Old came together to reconnect with the community and ring in the Year of the Snake. Here it is, your January in review.

Warm Wellington wishes for the Year of the Snake!

The Wellington community ushered in the Year of the Snake with two fun-filled days of celebrations. This Lunar New Year celebration marked another year the school has hosted these cultural events. Such festivities provide our community with an engaging and interactive way to deepen their appreciation of Chinese history and language.

Our littlest learners in Pre-Nursery and Nursery came to the main campus to put on a spectacular performance. It was a magical journey to find the Castle of Love with their Kung Fu Panda friends. Meanwhile, our Reception pupils took audiences on a Dream Time Travel Adventure and shared a fantastic feast of wonders.

Our pupils in years 1-3 took the stage in the College Theatre for individual Spring Festival performances. The event also featured a special collaborative performance showcasing the talents of the school's teachers, teaching assistants, and members of the Primary School's Senior Management Team. Parents were invited to attend and enjoy the showcase as well.

We had the pleasure of hosting Old Wellingtonians, Nathan, Connie and Cheng from the Class of 2024. This was an opportunity to reconnect and learn what they are doing with their lives after Wellington. Whether they are taking a much-deserved gap year or pursuing natural sciences or visual arts at world-class universities like Cambridge and UAL, they already had some exciting stories to share. We also took them around the campus to show them just how much it has changed in the seven months since they graduated. It was wonderful to welcome them back and hear how they're thriving in the next chapter of their lives!

Several Old Wellingtonians also had the chance to reconnect at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London, England. They met with Masters from around the Wellington College China group and shared their experiences at top schools like Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and Imperial College London. Attendees had the opportunity to discuss potential opportunities, explore how the College can continue supporting their academic and professional endeavours and, of course, strengthen the bonds of our close-knit global community.
