Creating compassionate leaders at Primary
We achieve this through a robust pupil leadership program that includes a variety of roles such as form captains, global ambassadors, school council members, and house captains. These positions provide pupils with valuable opportunities to take on responsibilities, develop essential leadership skills, and contribute positively to the school community.
Our pupil leadership groups meet fortnightly to discuss various events and issues within the school and the wider community. They engage in thoughtful discussions, brainstorming ideas and strategies to take meaningful action, whether it's presenting at assemblies, raising awareness, or addressing concerns to enhance the overall learning experience for everyone.
Through tailored programmes and interactive learning, we also actively work to instil the skills and confidence needed for impactful community engagement. We encourage our pupils to understand diverse perspectives, identify pressing needs, and explore ways they can make a difference. By nurturing their leadership abilities, we equip them with the tools to take meaningful action and affect positive change.
One remarkable initiative driven by our pupil council exemplifies our commitment to empathy and inclusivity. Recognising the importance of creating a supportive environment in the playground, the council brainstormed solutions and proposed the implementation of a buddy bench. This simple yet impactful addition to the school grounds serves as a safe space where children can sit and enjoy the company of their peers.

Through our comprehensive leadership development programme, we empower our pupils to become agents of positive change, both within the school and in the wider world. By providing them with opportunities to take on responsibilities, express their voices, and make meaningful contributions, we are nurturing the next generation of compassionate leaders. Our pupils learn to understand diverse perspectives, identify societal challenges, and develop the skills and confidence to tackle them head-on.
At Wellington, we are committed to empowering our pupils to make a difference. By fostering a culture of empathy, inclusion, and community engagement, we are equipping the next generation with the mindset and abilities to create a more compassionate world. Our pupils' remarkable initiatives, such as the buddy bench project, are just the beginning of the positive impact they will have as they continue to grow and thrive.
