Aqualions place 2nd at the ACAMIS Senior Swimming Championships
The ACAMIS Senior Swimming Championships took place in Hangzhou last weekend, and our Wellington Aqualions gave a fantastic performance. Despite facing many challenges with injuries and lineup changes, our pupils came together and delivered an outstanding team effort, placing 2nd overall.
This is the second year in a row our team has earned a 2nd place finish, cementing our status as one of the top three schools in the competition and the top team from Shanghai. The Aqualions demonstrated incredible resilience, determination and team spirit to produce such a strong result against tough opposition.
Year 10 pupil Ettore led the way for the Aqualions, taking 1st place for the boys 50-metre breast stroke and 50-metre back stroke. He also set an ACAMIS record for the boys 200-metre individual medley.
Our junior relay team (Summer, Tiffany and Alec) set a record for the mixed 200-metre freestyle relay. Our senior relay team (Noe, Alex, Melody and Elyse) set a meet record as well for the mixed 200-metre freestyle relay.
Also, big thanks are in order for our team captains Alex, Noe and Amdo for rallying another great event.
"To finish 2nd overall for a second straight year is a fantastic achievement,” said Miguel Alvarado, Wellington’s Head of Aquatics. “I'm incredibly proud of how our swimmers responded to the adversity they faced. They didn't let the setbacks get them down, they dove in, swam hard and fought for every point.”
The Aqualions' success speaks to our pupils’ commitment and resilience and the world-class swimming programme we offer at Wellington. Pupils benefit from excellent coaching, first-rate facilities and a culture that nurtures sporting excellence alongside academic success.
Well done, Aqualions!
