From our Early Years Centre to our Secondary School, Wellington pupils are Learners with the passion, intrinsic motivation and critical thinking that enables us to solve real-world challenges. They are Connectors with the confidence, openness and empathy to bridge cultural chasms and bring our world closer together. They are Changemakers with the knowledge, networks and commitment to better serve their community and make a positive impact on the future.
Regardless of age, Wellington pupils are inspired to be the best version of themselves and to take pride in where they come from. By living the Wellington Values of Kindness, Responsibility, Respect, Courage and Integrity, they learn to be the change they wish to see in the world.
An education that produces outstanding results
Last academic year, our year 11 pupils made remarkable achievements on their IGCSEs. 90% achieved an A or A* (7/8/9) grade in mathematics and 91% achieved an A or A* (7/8/9) grade in physics for instance. Our graduating Class of 2023 was a unique cohort. Their exam years were bookended by the sudden onslaught and eventual retreat of a global pandemic. In the years in between, they contended with postponements, lockdowns and a host of other disruptions. Nevertheless, they achieved some spectacular results. Their average International Baccalaureate examination score was 36.7, well above the global average of 30.2. Nine of our 2023 leavers achieved scores of 40 or higher, with a top score of 44! This year also saw a 100% pass rate for our pupils doing second language (Language B) papers with grades 6+, and our IB Core average at grade 2 out of 3. They have already begun their university careers at some of the world’s top-ranked schools, such as Cambridge, Oxford, Caltech, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Brown, Imperial College London, University College London, University of California Berkeley and more.
Creating young learners,connectors and changemakers
At our Early Years Centre, your child will begin building the foundations for a lifetime of success. Through our unique play-based curriculum, pupils do not just learn the basics of maths, literacy, language and the arts. In our outdoor learning areas, they learn to take calculated risks while they develop fine and gross motor skills. Meanwhile, they cultivate several essential life skills, like building positive relationships with others, independence and self-care.
By the time they advance to our Primary School, they will be ready to develop self-management, critical thinking, research, communication and social skills. As they broaden their academic horizons, they will become empathetic, self-reliant and reflective learners who embrace diverse cultures and have a thirst for knowledge.
This fully readies them for our Secondary School, where they engage with a deep, broad and challenging curriculum. Here they grow intellectually, creatively, physically and morally as they gaining the courage and resilience to stretch themselves well beyond their comfort zone. They are primed for success in their IGCSE in years 10 and 11 and then the IB as they advance to Sixth Form. Our talented team of teachers are with them along the way providing guidance and pastoral care.
A strong parent-teacher partnership
The Friends of Wellington (FOW) is our parent and teacher association and brings the school community together to share, contribute and celebrate. It is integral to College life as it hosts several key events throughout the academic year. The FOW also contributes to the wider community and promotes the Wellington Value of Kindness through annual fundraising and charity activities.
