A holiday message from the Master 2024
Brendon Fulton
However, when we consider the fact that Qiantan itself did not exist 10 years ago, we can see how starting with a powerful vision can lead to a strong and stable community. The Qiantan community was born from a vision for a network of family, starting with a school. And around it a city was created. The story of Wellington Shanghai mirrors the aspirations of our founder, Joy Qiao. What began as a dream has blossomed into an institution that inspires many to think boldly and equips them with the resources to pursue their ambitions.
This term has been filled with many incredible achievements for our school community. We were also honored to be recognized as one of the Top 150 Private Schools in the world in the fifth edition of The Schools Index by Carfax Education. Wellington College International Shanghai is one of only three schools included from the Chinese Mainland and the only one in Shanghai. This prestigious ranking reflects our unique ethos, local and international reputation, and the way we prepare our students for life beyond academia, as well as our commitment to technology and sustainability.
Our Wellington Aqualions delivered an outstanding team effort at the ACAMIS Senior Swimming Championships in Hangzhou, earning a well-deserved 2nd place finish for the second year in a row. This cements our status as one of the top three schools in the competition and the top team from Shanghai.
Additionally, our Chinese debating team placed 4th overall and claimed the Division Champions title at the 10th Zongheng Cup International Chinese Debate Competition, competing against over 150 schools worldwide.
As we welcome the festive season, it is a good time to be grateful for this community and to recognise the significant contribution of all those within it. We could not have achieved what we have without the support, trust, and belief of our parents; the commitment and dedication of our staff; but most importantly, without the learner, connector, changemaker spirit of our pupils.
Wherever you are during the festive season this year, I wish you and your family a restful and reflective break. It is a time for peace and restoration – I hope that you and your family will find some peace together, and that you all return in January fully restored and ready for the new term.
