In case you missed it | Summer Festival 2021
Last weekend, Wellington pupils, parents and teachers came together for a day of sun, fun, food and live performances at our sixth annual Summer Festival organised by Friends of Wellington.
The grounds of the College became equal parts concert and carnival, and the stage was the epicentre of all the action. Teachers Mr Larsen-Disney, Ms Hicks, Dr Tkachenko and Ms Summerfield organised a roster of thrilling performances by nearly 150 talented Wellington pupils. They dazzled audiences with traditional Chinese dragon dances and drum ensembles as well as several rock and hip hop dance and music acts.
Elsewhere on the grounds were plenty of opportunities for fun to be found, like inflatable bouncing castles, a bubble pool, a miniature Spartan obstacle course challenge and much more. An all-star list of vendors kept all festivalgoers fed and happy throughout the day as well.
But the Summer Festival was not just about getting together for some fun in the sun. The event also presented an opportunity to do some good for others and raise money for a charitable cause. This year, Friends of Wellington raised a very impressive 19,000RMB for two very worthwhile charitable organisations: ACTAsia and Childream.
ACTAsia runs comprehensive education programmes for sustainable change. They teach young people, consumers and professionals throughout Asisa to promote kindness and compassion for people, animals and the environment. An equally worthwhile cause, Childream brings happiness and relief to the lives of children who have terminal illness by helping their dreams come true.
Charitable efforts like this are the truest expression of one of Wellington's most cherished value, Kindness. We are proud to have had the opportunity to make a difference in others' lives.
We would like to thank everybody who worked so hard to make this event the success that it was, from the Wellington parents and staff who helped plan it to the pupils who kept us all entertained to the sponsors who offered their support.
