2 Wellington Pupils Win at the International Psychology Olympiad

Congratulations to Year 12 pupil Josie Z and Year 13 pupil Jeffrey C who both distinguished themselves in the Global Grand Test of the 2025 International Psychology Olympiad which concluded in August. Josie earned a Higher Distinction whilst Jeffrey earned an Excellence Award.

"I am so proud of our pupils who have demonstrated such dedication and passion towards the subject. They should be pleased with their achievements," shares Anna Bannister, Head of Psychology at Wellington Shanghai.

The International Psychology Olympiad is the highest profile psychology award competition for high school students around the globe. The Global Round tests students on their fundamental psychology knowledge and covers the six main areas of knowledge designated in the American Psychology Association high school curriculum:
Methods
Biopsychological
Behavioral
Developmental
Cognitive
Variations in Individual and Group Behavior
The challenging examination is particularly recommended for pupils aiming to study Psychology at a top US university.
At Wellington, we offer Psychology as a subject at both IGCSE and IB levels along with CCAs to support pupils who would like to extend their interest in the subject. Over the years the programme has become more and more popular.
"Not only have pupils been able to achieve excellent results, but it is wonderful to see them developing a lifelong interest in the subject, with many now picking it as a major or minor subject at university," shares Ms Bannister.
Congratulations again to our two pupils for their outstanding results.
