Senior SISAC Football FINALS: Boys 4th and Girls 5th in Division 1 Cup

21 May 2018
The culmination of the senior boys and girls football season was the SISAC finals day, an event where all schools in both Pudong and Puxi sides of Shanghai come together to work out the final ranking of schools across the city.   The girls were drawn against a strong YCIS Puxi side in their first match and started brightly, with Anya and Amber scoring the goals in a comfortable 4-0 victory to put them into the next round. The boys first match was a much tighter affair, with the game even after full time at 1-1 and the match going into penalties. Thankfully, Wellington held their nerve and ended up as 4-3 winners and, like the girls, they progressed to the next round.   The girls next match was against SCIS HQ, who eventually finished runners-up overall. They were unfortunate in the first half but finished the match losing 3-1 and moving into the lower half of the draw, winning their last match against Hangzhou International School 6-2 and finishing 5th place overall. The boys were unlucky to be drawn against eventual winners, LFS, and were soundly beaten 6-2. They then faced off against a strong Suzhou and were beaten 4-0, but finished a credible 4th place overall. This was a great season for our senior boys and girls, and we look forward to next year when we will be competing at the ACAMIS championships!   Nick Starbrook Director of Sport Wellington College international Shanghai
