U11A start new netball season with clean sweep

26 Jan 2018
The A and B teams of the U11 netball squad have enjoyed a great start to the new season as they faced off against Dulwich College Suzhou and Dulwich College Shanghai. Both teams played very well and it was extremely encouraging to see such spirited performances occurring so early on in the term, particularly given that this was the first opportunity for both teams to play together competitively. The A Team secured a commanding lead right from the start of the match and managed to keep possession well, enabling plenty of solid goal shooting opportunities for the attackers. Dior (goal attack) deserves a special mention: not only did she score at every opportunity, she also played a crucial role out on court by making space and gaining possession. Led by team captain Tiggy, the defence played extremely well, marking, intercepting and preventing the opposition from keeping possession while denying them goal shooting chances of their own. The A Team managed three wins from three – a terrific effort. The B Team, consisting mainly of year 5s, including several girls who had never played netball before, battled well throughout the morning and improved with each game. Despite their inexperience, their results were encouraging. They showed that they have huge potential for continued improvement with a term of coaching and match experience. A special mention must go to team captain Ruby for displaying excellent leadership throughout the fixtures.
