School Life | Year 4 visits Shanghai Glass Museum
05 Dec 2017
Year 4 had an exciting day out at the Shanghai Glass Museum as part of their IPC topic, Young Entrepreneurs. The pupils have been learning about design and product making in class, as well as how to set up a business.
The day started with pupils designing and making their own fridge magnet. They carefully constructed a mosaic pattern out of tiny glass tiles, resulting in each child creating a unique design.
The pupils then ventured into the main section of the glass museum where they learned about the history of glass and how it’s properties can be used for many different purposes.
In the afternoon, they completed a treasure hunt and had to find different glass sculptures and pieces of art work from their activity booklets. Many of the art works were made from recycled glass, which prompted the children to think about re-using materials for different needs.
It proved to be an exciting day out and the children enjoyed learning about the design process. It was rewarding for them to see their ideas made into actual products.
Many thanks to our parent helpers who attended the trip and a special thank you to Mr Miller for organising this educational visit.
