Swimmers return triumphantly from Taipei American School swim meet
16 Nov 2017
On 3-5 November, 16 of the Wellington college swim team members attended the Taipei American School Invitational swim competition. We raced against 15 other international swim schools and clubs in Asia. Every one of our swimmers had trained hard all year to contest their personal best times. This was the opportunity to prove their determination and motivation as swimmers.
The races began on the Friday afternoon and the team lived up to its own expectations, coming home with seven golds, one silver and nine bronze medals, along with one overall age group winner (Agnes) and one third place position (Tommaso). These are excellent results that we should be proud of.
This event had a significant impact on many of the team's swimmers, as it was their first time attending an overseas swim meet. The competition proved to be a fun and valuable experience for everyone involved while creating some great memories for the team to share and bond over.
I would like to acknowledge our coaches, Mr Miladinovski, Mr Hambling and Mrs Colombo, who supported us throughout the meet and during our training time leading up to it. They have always provided us with words of advice and encouragement, both before and after each race. They continue to help us improve as swimmers, and guide us in our preparation for future races.
