U13 Girls victorious in SSSA football tournament
20 Oct 2017
Last weekend the U13 girls team travelled to SUIS Jiaoke to compete against eight other schools in the Shanghai Schools Sports Association football tournament. Throughout the warm day, our girls battled brilliantly against the solid opposition facing them. In the group stage, they were victorious against SUIS Gubei with a goal from Theresia, followed by a 0-2 defeat against LFS. The semi-final pitted Wellington against SUIS Jiaoke which saw our girls gaining ground and confidence throughout the game, leaving them the resounding winners at 2-0 with goals from Lucy and Theresia. This secured the girls a place in the final where they faced LFS again. However, having learned from their earlier defeat, the Wellington girls battled hard until their perseverance paid off in the form of a crucial goal from Stefania, which won the game 1-0. This was an excellent result and a great morning of football overall for Wellington. Not only did the girls come away as the tournament victors, Lucy also won the MVP award. Congratulations to all those involved! Related Articles
