Bryan shines in Shanghai Tennis Association Finals

09 Oct 2017
Wellington pupil Bryan (year 5) recently competed in the Shanghai Tennis Association Finals, a prestigious competition which pitted him against the highest ranked players in Shanghai for his age group, in order to establish their end of year rankings. After achieving some convincing early victories on the Saturday, Bryan prepared himself to fight for the number one spot in the final on Sunday. Playing against a full-time Shanghai team player was always going to make for a tough match. Despite displaying great fighting spirit and a “never give up” mentality, Bryan’s inspiring comeback from 1-4 to 4-5 was cut short and the end result of 4-6 saw him finishing as the competition’s runner up. It was a sterling performance and the hours of hard work on the court and during fitness training sessions are clearly paying off. We are rightly proud of Bryan’s excellent achievement and look forward to seeing him build on that success in future tournaments. Nick Starbrook Director of Sport
