Wellington College runners up in U13 football tournament at WISS

02 Mar 2017
Last weekend, the U13 boys football team travelled to the Western International School Shanghai for an SSSA U13 football tournament. The opening matches represented a middling start for the boys, as they draw against hosts WISS and SUIS Gubei, with Dan scoring the first match’s goal. The third group match saw the team starting to gain momentum and the goals began to flow, resulting in a 4-0 victory over YK Pao B team with George scoring two and Sam and Moksh claiming a goal apiece. The final group match was a resounding 5-1 victory over Wycombe Abbey, with Moksh scoring a hat-trick which secured the teama spot in the semifinal. A 3-2 win on penalties narrowly saw them through to a place in the final but then despite a very tight match with some excellent performances, Wellington College came off second best in a 1-0 defeat against YK Pao A. Overall, it was a great day of football and the boys represented Wellington College in impressive fashion. Special mentions go to Moksh, who was tournament’s top scorer with seven goals, and Tommaso, who was voted player of the tournament.
