U11 & U9 Netball round up

26 Feb 2017
Last week, the U11s travelled to NAIS for the third round of fixtures in this term’s U11 Shanghai Netball League. Our girls lost their opening match 17-0, against a well-drilled DCSZ team. Not to be deterred, the girls gave a spirited performance against the Dulwich 1st team, losing 12-2. However, their perseverance and unbreakable team spirit paid off, as they were rewarded with a 3-0 victory over the Dulwich 2nd team in their final match. The U9 netball team visited Dulwich College Shanghai for their second fixture of the U9 Shanghai Netball League, where they drew 1-1 against DCSZ in a nail-biting opening match, thanks to a much-needed goal scored by Mia. The girls all switched positions for the following match, in order to allow everyone to familiarize themselves with new configurations and learn new skills. This tactic bore fruit, as it led to a stunning 3-1 victory against NAIS. In the final match, the U9 girls team faced Dulwich College and managed to beat them 5-1. The ball hardly left the D during the course of the match. After each game, the girls displayed admirable sportsmanship by giving their opponents a rousing three cheers. Both teams are continually improving each week and becoming more familiar with the rules of the game. This experience and working knowledge of the rules will stand them in good stead for future matches, where the umpiring will be stricter. In preparation for this, the girls need to be concentrating on their footwork and watching out for being caught offside. Mrs Blackwood & Ms Abbott
