U11 girls netball squad display great skill and resolve in the season's opening matches

24 Jan 2017
The U11 Girls Netball squad began their season playing at home against Nord Anglia International School and BISS Puxi. The girls were somewhat nervous but extremely excited to represent the school to the best of their ability in the games ahead. We played our first match against BISS Puxi and despite losing 3-0 the game showed our team’s determination and resolve. Our shooting team, in the guise of Dior and Kayleigh, displayed some fantastic teamwork, seamlessly passing and moving in concert in order to dominate the shooting circle. Seren also displayed excellent knowledge of the game, playing a strong wing attack which allowed her to feed the ball into the circle. Our defending team, Elise, Tiggy and May, worked extremely hard to defend every single shot and pass attempted by the opposition. Grace and Cheryl shared the fast-moving position of Centre and both admirably rose to the challenge of being everywhere at once! Our second game saw a significant improvement in the girls’ passing, movement into space and shooting performance. We exhibited both strength and skill against NAIS, winning the game resoundingly 6-0. The team roster was changed up during this game, allowing me to see how each of the girls performed in different positions, while also testing their ability to adapt to positions outside of their usual comfort zone. This led to some interesting tactical opportunities and allowed the girls to gain valuable in-game experience of various positions. I am confident that the coming weeks of the new season will allow the girls to demonstrate solid progression in their knowledge and understanding of the game as well as a desire to continue to perform well with maximum effort.
