Congratulations to the Wellington winners of the Annual Pudong Chinese Writing Competition
On Wednesday 25 May, Wellington pupils attended the prize-winners ceremony at the Annual Chinese Writing Competition hosted by the Pudong Education Bureau. Composing on the theme of ‘Me and the Chinese Language’, our pupils performed brilliantly, surpassing the results we achieved last year and cementing our College’s position as one of the city’s leading centres for Mandarin provision.
In preparation for the competition, our teachers guided all of our children through themed composition practice, gradually selecting the very best (from an excellent pool of talent) to represent the college in the competition. Ninety-two essays were eventually entered, an extremely high number that did credit to the hard work and amazing progress of the pupils. Against strong competition from all the international schools and many international divisions of local schools, nineteen of our pupils won awards, with eight achieving third prizes, eight achieving second prizes and, most impressively, four achieving first prizes. Given that our college is less than two years old, this is an outstanding achievement.
In addition to the awards, the ceremony was treated with a performance by our Year Two pupils (directed by Caroline Zhang), which was very warmly received and showcased their poetry and singing skills.
Congratulations to Wellington winners:
- First Prize: Sabrina, Cheryl, Daniel and Yi Jia.
- Second Prize: Tommy, Jenny, Brendan, Aidan, Owen, Evan, Angela and Emma.
- Third Prize: Richard, Connie, Alexander, Kevin, Angelina, Vivian, Nicholas and Crystal
