Shanghai Swim League – The Championships
07 Mar 2016
Two days, a thousand swimmers and a lot of noise…
Sporting their trade-mark black and orange team colours, The Wellington College Swim Squad were in action again over the weekend of the 27th/28th at the Shanghai American School Pudong Campus.
Split over two days, to accommodate the numbers, the Championships are by far the biggest and most prestigious meet of the Shanghai Swim League calendar.
The team had prepared hard all term and then entered the important tapering phase ensuring that all of our athletes were ready for the competition and to deliver optimum performance.
The hard work has certainly paid off, as nearly all swimmers managed to produce a new ‘Personal Best’ on the day, setting their own goals even higher.
The team is currently entering a ‘Threshold Training Phase’ before beginning to taper again in preparation for the ‘Thanyapura Long Course’ competition at the end of the term.
