The Academy Programme enters its second year

28 Dec 2015
The Academy Programme enters it's second year The Wellington Academy moved from strength to strength last year and is now well into an even more successful and engaging programme this year, complete with more sessions, a range of available activities and an increased number of participants. Held in the evenings and on weekends, The Wellington Academy Programme is a fantastic opportunity for children to further develop their individual talents and interests. It provides a series of sporting, cultural and academic activities, all coached, led and taught by experts in their chosen fields. In addition, it allows pupils not only from Wellington, but also from other schools, to get to know each other doing activities they have a mutual interest in, and thus expand their network. The staff, consisting mostly of Wellington teachers, coupled with the standard of the College facilities makes such an ambitious programme possible here. Part of the Wellington Academy Programme is the exciting Theatre Arts Programme ‘CentreStage’, which is dedicated to giving young performers advanced training in the three disciplines of Theatre Arts: acting, dancing, and singing. All are led by professionals in their fields and provide outstanding performance opportunities in our world class theatre; CentreStage is set to be the leading performance academy in Shanghai. A wide range of sporting options present the opportunity for children to thrive at their chosen sport and recognise their full potential as sportsmen and women. Each sport is led by renowned athletes in their own right, each with professional careers in their respective areas. Children have the unique experience of learning the intricacies of their chosen discipline from the best. In addition to arts and sports, the Academy also runs a successful debating academy that has competed internationally, a Mad Science club which gives those with a passionate interest in the sciences the chance to experiment beyond the day-to-day investigations of school science lessons as well as a fashion design club for those wishing to perhaps go into the lucrative fashion business. The Wellington Academy undoubtedly has something to offer for every child in appealing to their interests and striving to ascertain and bring out their passion. The Academy Programme also includes a very popular 'Ladies Fitness' class led by Carlton Palmer, the Programme's director, and former English professional footballer. Online registration for the Academy Programme is open until October 1st for participants looking to join on October 5th. Spaces are selling out quickly, so don't miss out.
