Jack and the Beanstalk
Wellington Theatre Climbs to New Heights
There are always many obstacles involved in any theatrical event, doubly so with a new building and a new school.
Having built a theatre, we needed to make sure it could cope with the type of work we will be doing in it. New lighting and sound systems and equipment were bought, tested and programmed and a major, and hugely ambitious, push was made to produce a full scale production within the first 12 weeks of our existence. 30 aspiring performers from yrs6 to 11 were auditioned and begun the arduous task of rehearsing and creating an hour and a half piece of theatre which became “Jack and the Beanstalk”.
Pantomime is a unique form of British theatre so there was a steep learning curve involved not only for the performers, but for the audience as well.
We are hugely proud of everyone who took part in the production and believe we surpassed our expectations of a first production. We look forward now to our first full-scale Musical in June and an expansion of our endeavors across the College and the community in the future.
