Gacun Park Cross Country
18 Oct 2015
The 2015/16 Cross Country running season began last weekend with an event held at Gacun Park in Puxi.
Wellington College were again able to field a very impressive team to take park in the ‘Shanghai Running Park Series’.
A few new faces (with a little persuading) joined the team for the first time. Luca Ceyssens, Constance La Grande, Yousef Ahmed, Jason Tang, Johnson Li and Coco Brandini all took part in their first (of many we hope) 5KM event.
The college team, were as ever impressive with the following results:
Max Dyckerhoff – U16 1st Place
Ben Cook – U13 1st Place
Tessa Cristensen U16 2nd Place
Luna Cristensen U16 3rd Place
It is also worth noting, Jade Segewick running in the U13 race was the first female Wellington runner over the line and had she been competing in the older age group, would have positioned in the top three as well.
Not forgetting our staff and parents: Mr. Sleep, Mr. Hambling and Miss Kolossy were joined by Jade’s father, Mr. Tim Segewick and they all competed in the 10KM event, with Mr. Karam taking third place overall in the veteran’s race. Last and by no means last, Miss. Godwyn, who thought she would be racing in a 5KM race, found out, with just minutes to go, that she would in fact be racing her first ever 10KM event.
A huge well done to all of our runners and we are looking forward to the next event in the next few weeks.
