House badminton
13 May 2015
Last Tuesday we held our very first house badminton tournament and the competition was fierce! Competition for places on the house teams was competitive, with houses having to hold tryouts for the team. It was fantastic to see such a healthy interest in badminton amongst our students and as a result the standard of the competition was very high.
It was great to see the students competing against one another in a competitive environment, but maintaining a good level of sportsmanship. I was also pleased to see the players take on the responsibility of scoring the games, when they were not playing and taking on another role within the sport.
There were a number of outstanding performances throughout the afternoon, but the MVP’s went to:
Year 7&8 girl – Katherine Lee
Year 7&8 boy – Jasper Gao
Year 9-11 Girl – Nikki Gupta
Year 9-11 boy- Pratyush Canpadee
The tournament was a great event, but one house did perform consistently well throughout the singles and doubles games across all age groups and that was the Combermere!
Final standing were:
1st place = Combermere
2nd place = Wellesley
3rd place = Hopetoun
4th place = Stanley
Many congratulations to all and thank you to all of the staff for the support for the event. We now look forward to sport day on the 12th June.
