10 years strong: A toast to our pioneering parents
As part of our 10 year anniversary celebrations, we took time to honour those who have been with us since the very beginning, our founding families. The event, held at the elegant HYH Maison restaurant, brought together parents who have been part of the Wellington community for the past decade.
Over a delicious dinner, our leadership team thanked these families for their unwavering support and commitment to building Wellington into the incredible global community that it is today.
"These parents are the bedrock of our College," said Brendon Fulton, Master of Wellington Shanghai. "They had faith in our vision when we opened our doors in August 2014. Back then, were just a small, close-knit community of 300 pupils and 65 teachers. In the ensuing decade, their children have grown with us. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done to make our learning community so great.”
“Looking ahead to the next 10 years, I hope our community will continue to evolve and grow. From the most dynamic community in China to the most dynamic community in the world,” added Felix Zhang, Chairman of the Friends of Wellington and Wellington Parent.
Our founding families dinner was just one of several ways we have been celebrating our 10th anniversary. Events and activities include our inaugural Wellbeing Festival, the first of its kind in China. Pupils, parents and teachers will engage in workshops, talks and a host of other activities guided by themes like ‘Be Active’, ‘Be Learners’, ‘Be Connectors’, ‘Be Mindful’ and ‘Be Changemakers’ and a 10th Anniversary Celebration Day, which will see Wellington's valued community partners on campus for a special commemorative event and an outdoor concert that will bring the entire community together.
As we mark this important milestone, we are grateful to have been supported by parents who believed in our mission from the very beginning. For today’s video, watch as some of our founding parents reflect on their time as members of the Wellington community and what makes it so unique.
