Secondary Learning Support Teacher

Derek is a highly experienced teacher with over 15 years of experience working across multiple school types and levels (Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary). He has worked as a learning support teacher, homeroom teacher, EAL teacher and in special schools for children with Mild, moderate, severe and profound learning needs as well as for children with an identification of Autism Spectrum disorder. He has also been a peripatetic teacher (children's hospital teacher). He has worked in schools in Ireland, the United Arab Emirates and China. This year marks his 10th school year in China and he is very much looking forward to joining and contributing to the Wellington family. 

Outside of school, Derek loves to travel, exploring new lands and cultures as well as cooking, swimming, reading and spending time with his 2 cats - Samhain (Irish for Halloween / November) and 凱樂 (happy).
