Ian Robertson
Head of Secondary Mathematics
Ian graduated from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, in 2003 and began his teaching career in a secondary school in Glasgow, where he taught Mathematics for eight years. In 2013, after meeting his future wife, he made the exciting and ultimately life-changing decision to move to China, to immerse himself in her culture and further develop his career in education.
Ian spent four years at a leading international school in Beijing, where he served as Head of Mathematics for two of those years. Following a brief return to Scotland, he and his family relocated to Shanghai, where he once again assumed the role of Head of Mathematics at an international school. During this time, he also served for two years as an Assistant Headteacher, focusing on the improvement of teaching and learning across the secondary school.
Ian is now thrilled to be part of Wellington College Shanghai, where he leads a dynamic and talented Mathematics team with passion and dedication.
