Sonia Ord brings over 15 years of international teaching experience focused on creating inclusive and engaging learning environments. She has taught in China for the last 7 years in both Shanghai and Guangzhou. During her career, Sonia has focused on creating well-rounded programs, guiding school wide committees, and fostering an environment where everyone feels included and valued. She is passionate and committed to student empowerment, consistently applying inquiry-based teaching methods that encourage students to take an active role in their educational journey.

Sonia’s foundational education includes a Bachelor of Education from Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, complemented by a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education from Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand. Her enthusiasm for ongoing professional growth is apparent through her involvement in various IB workshops, Bullying Solution training, and exploring the role of technology in the classroom.

Outside of the classroom, Sonia enjoys immersing herself in new cultures through travel and local experiences. Her favorite places to visit are Rome, Paris and Osaka. She enjoys cooking, reading, listening to music ,and spending quality time with her family. Sonia enjoys taking walks, exploring new locations, and taking photographs along her ventures.
