Gemma is an experienced and qualified primary teacher, specializing in Key Stage 2 (KS2) as a Key Stage Coordinator. After returning to the UK, she obtained qualifications as a social worker and has been a part of the child protection and court team in Chester since 2022. Gemma's international teaching journey began in Beijing in 2011, where she worked for five years before spending some time in Saudi Arabia.
She graduated from Bradford University, where she studied social policy until 2007. In 2011, she completed her Primary Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with the University of Cumbria after working as a specialized teaching assistant for three years. In 2021, she made a career change and pursued a fast-track diploma in children and family social work, focusing on safeguarding children and supporting families.
In addition to her professional life, Gemma is a mother of two. During her spare time, she enjoys taking family days out, hiking, exploring, and supporting their hobbies and interests. Gemma also finds pleasure in staying fit and relaxing with a good book. Having travelled extensively during her time in China, she is excited to introduce her children to new and exciting places.
