Bryce Van De Laar

Teacher of English Language and Literature | House Coordinator

Over the course of his career, Bryce van de Laar has taught a variety of subjects including English language and literature, social studies, creative arts and music in China and South Africa. As the cultural coordinator at his previous school, he worked with the head of the sports committee to create a house system. This had a huge impact on the cultural life of the school.  

Bryce holds a bachelor’s degree in music and English literature from the University of Cape Town. He followed this up with his PGCE.

Outside of school, Bryce enjoys stretching his creative muscles. He is a singer-songwriter and is currently producing his second blues-rock album. In addition, he and his wife are competitive Latin-American dancers. Bryce enjoys reading, and his favourite novel is The Great Gatsby. While he is not very good at it, he also enjoys playing touch rugby.
