Giselle Slade

Head of Learning Support

Over the past decade, Giselle has worked as an SEN teacher at The British School, Rio de Janeiro, where she was a founding member of the SEN department in the Secondary School. More recently, she taught at The Sultan's School in Muscat, Oman. Alongside her teaching role, Giselle takes a keen interest in extra-curricular activities, such as working with students at the Model United Nations club and coaching swimming.   Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Giselle spent a year as an exchange student in Atlanta, Georgia, before completing a degree in Physical Education. Giselle then switched the focus of her academic studies to follow the passion she developed for Special Educational Needs. In 2018, Giselle graduated with a Masters in Special and Additional Learning Needs at the University of East London. Her dissertation amalgamated her experiences as a teacher by studying the potential impact of physical activities on the academic lives of dyslexic students.   In her free time, Giselle enjoys cooking and reading. She loves exercising and CrossFit. She also spends a lot of time dreaming about her next travel destination, and she uses school holidays as a chance to explore the world. In 2019, Giselle became a mother and is currently enjoying spending time with her daughter, Isabel.
