Meritxell was born in Barcelona, Spain. She gained a degree in sociology from the University of Barcelona. In her final undergraduate year, she pursued Spanish and Latin American studies at the Metropolitan University of London. After moving to study in Canada and travel around the United States and Europe, she pursued an master’s degree in international relations and exterior commerce at the Politics and Sociology Official College of Madrid. Furthermore, she obtained a PGCE in Secondary at Goldsmiths University of London and a MA in education from the University of Nottingham.
She enjoyed working in a variety of Ofsted outstanding schools in London and, in the process, gained a CELTA certificate. She has had a wide range of experience in academic roles, teaching Spanish, French, TOK, sociology, international studies, EAL, RE and Spanish film studies. Throughout her career, she has served as a curriculum leader, CAS supervisor and head of modern foreign languages. While at Wellington, she has completed several middle leadership development advance programmes, positive education coaching advance courses and IB certificates. She is also an IBDP examiner.
Meritxell enjoys living in Shanghai because it is a truly international city of the 21st century, with plentiful opportunities and experiences to discover.
