Penny Lewis
Assistant Head (Pastoral and Performance - Years 7-9) | Teacher of English Language and Literature
Penny graduated from the University of Warwick with an LLB in Law. For 6 years she worked in a variety of legal environments including the Ministry of Justice, prosecution services and leading international charities. It was during a lectureship at Waseda University, Tokyo that she realised her love of teaching and so decided to move on to pastures new, swapping her law books for novels. Penny began her teaching career in West London, achieving QTS (Outstanding) and a PGCE from the Institute of Education, UCL. In particular, she is keen for students to develop a deeper appreciation of the written word and to find their own voice through an exploration of poetry, drama and creative writing. Penny moved to Shanghai in 2018 with her husband who is also a teacher. In her spare time she enjoys practising yoga badly, writing her never-ending novel and attending any event that sounds interesting. She hopes to get a cat.
