Year 6 Teacher & Head of Primary Science
Before teaching, Andrew was an Analytical Chemist at the largest water company in the UK. After several years of analysing water and soil samples using ion chromatography, he chose to retrain as a teacher. It is a choice that he has never regretted. Andrew has more than eighteen years primary teaching experience. His first teaching post was in a small, local primary school on the east coast of England before moving to Qatar, where he spent his years teaching in the classroom or as a PE and swimming teacher. Andrew studied Chemistry at the University of Plymouth and completed a master degree in Chemistry at the University of Kent in the UK. He went on to complete his PGCE at Canterbury Christchurch University. Outside of school, Andrew spends most of his time with his two girls, Lily and Emma, who also attend Wellington College International Shanghai. Andrew is an avid triathlete and has competed in several Ironman races. He also loves to play and watch all kinds of sports, particularly cricket and rugby.
