Nursery Teacher
Sophie has been working as an EFL teacher in Shanghai for the past 2 years, gaining experience with teaching English and soft skills to a range of ages from 3-15 years old. She has experience with teaching phonics, grammar, reading, listening and speaking, logical reasoning, communication, creativity and social skills. In her previous role, she was a specialist in planning and arranging weekly arts and crafts classes centred around topics relevant to current events or the time of year. She was also a teacher ambassador with the responsibility of welcoming new teachers and assisting them with any challenges they faced during the onboarding process. Before that, she had experience with volunteering in local Primary Schools in the UK as a teaching assistant, helping students with numeracy and literacy tasks.
Sophie graduated from the University of Leeds in 2019 with an integrated MEng degree in civil and structural engineering. She then went on to pursue a career in teaching and gained her TEFL qualification as well as certificates in Cambridge TKTs. She is currently working towards an IPGCE from the University of Derby.
During her free time, Sophie enjoys reading, cooking and experiencing new food, and playing tabletop games with friends.
