Zachary Ruch

Head of KS3 Humanities

 

Zachary Ruch hails from San Diego, California and has had the privilege of teaching and living on four continents. After starting his career in the US, he moved and taught humanities at different international schools. He first taught history at the George Washington Academy in Casablanca, Morocco and led Model United Nations there for several years. He then moved to Eastern Europe, where he was Head of History at the American School of Kosovo. More recently, he taught world history and psychology in Shenzhen, China. He has been based in China since 2016.

 

At the time or writing, Zachary will receive a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard University this summer. He currently holds a bachelor’s degree in history secondary education from Appalachian State University, and a master’s degree in liberal studies with a concentration in political science from Fort Hays State University. He considers education to be a life-long process and strives for continued growth.

 

Zachary enjoys a variety of academic and non-academic interests. Academically he takes joy in reading all manner of history books and learning about other cultures, particularly in the late 19th century. He also finds psychology and the study of the mind incredibly fascinating. Outside of academics, his interests include reading, rugby, travelling the world with his wife, Stephanie, exercise and playing video games.
